Dr. Corbett has practiced gastroenterology in Sarasota since 1984. Having founded Gastroenterology Associates of Sarasota, he is the practice's senior
partner and president. He attended the United States Naval Academy in Annapolis and Hofstra University on Long Island where he graduated magna cum laude and
is a member of Phi Beta Kappa. He graduated the New York University School of Medicine where he was selected by the faculty for membership in the national
medical honor society, Alpha Omega Alpha in his junior year, an honor reserved for the top 1% of the junior class. He went on to do his internship and
residency in internal medicine at the University of Miami and remained there to finish his fellowship in gastroenterology. He has authored textbook chapters
in leading publications including Bockus, the seven volume bible of gastroenterology.
When he began solo practice in Sarasota he introduced new procedural expertise to the community in endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography (ERCP) as
Sarasota's first fellowship trained biliary endoscopist. He has maintained his desire to provide cutting edge technology to the community becoming one of the
nation's leading providers of endoscopic antireflux intervention, and is regarded as one of the worlds leading providers of Barrett's ablation techniques. He
periodically instructs senior medical students as a voluntary faculty member of the University of South Florida School of Medicine, and is frequently asked to
lecture and instruct other gastroenterologists seeking to learn about his experience with certain newer endoscopic techniques. He was recently honored in
Sarasota Magazine and Castle and Connolly's peer review publication as one of "America's Top Doctors" and was named the Sarasota-Manatee regions
leading gastroenterologist.
Dr. Corbett has two children, two step children, three dogs, a cat, is an avid skier, a fisherman, loves to paint and argue about football. About the practice
of medicine, he says "I still have much to contribute and a lot to learn.... My partners are the greatest group of doctors with whom I could ever have hoped
to become associated." |
